It's FRIDAY!!! and 5QF time!!

Jumping right into the swing of things this morning... and getting the bloggy day started with a Five Question Friday!! BUT FIRST-

Make sure you come back by on Monday! I will be reviewing a product (it's a very useful household product... that's all I'm saying for now!) and you can enter the GIVEAWAY for your very own!!

Questions for Friday, April 16th: (Thanks to Robin, Heidi, Renee, Cascia, and C-Dub for their question suggestions or inspiration! If YOU would like to be linked in a future Five Question Friday, just head on over here, to my Blog Frog community, where I've started a brand spankin' new thread, just for all your burning questions!)

1. What words do you use on your blog/online that you don't use in real life?

Uhh... I don't know??! I just used "bloggy" up there, and I'm not sure I've ever verbalized that one. I think everybody uses words when they write that may never cross their lips, just because we're all in that "school" mindset and we have to use our big vocabulary when we're writing our papers... or something like that.

2. Do you still write checks?

Only when I have to. Like yesterday, I wrote a check to our new accountant for doing our taxes. I'll write checks to pay for my trash pick up service, and to the place where Lady M does gymnastics. But ALL of my bills that are payable online, I pay online, and in stores, I either use cash or my debit card. (wouldn't Dave Ramsey be proud?!)

3. Who was your favorite President and why?

(Sometimes these questions are TOUGH!!! .... I'm just sayin'....)

Well, I'm 30 years old. I was born the last year that Jimmy Carter was in office, then Reagan was in for 2 terms, then Bush 1 for one term, and Clinton for 2, then Bush 2 for two and now we're onto Obama. I don't remember anything about Carter, and really was too young to remember a lot about Reagan. But I guess in my lifetime if I  was choosing a prez that I could call my favorite it would be.... either Reagan or Bush 2. Historically, of course, I appreciate some of the advancements made by Washington and Lincoln, but I'm no historian- so don't call me on the carpet here and tell me how they were lying, cheating, no-good-for-nothing-something-or-others.

4. Are you a yeller?

Ask my kids... they'd say "YES!!"

Also, at public sporting events, I get really loud. Even if it's just a local softball game. I'm a complete embarrassment to everyone around me.

But I say I'm just passionate :)

5. Have you ever dumpster dived?

Nope. I mean, not literally. Have I driven by someone's discarded pile of stuff on the side of the road because I saw something I wanted?

No, not that either. But my husband, when he was out of work for a month, really kept our budget alive by doing just that. He would pick up old appliances or pieces of anything metal he's see lying on the side of the road, then take them to the recycling center to sell as scrap metal.

And my mom is always finding something that's like brand new... for instance, a baby swing that she got when my sister in law was pregnant. She was walking in her neighborhood and saw it out beside someone's trash cans, but she said it looked brand spankin' new, so she brought it home and cleaned it up (because it had been out with the trash). And you know what, that was a great find!!

I am just too much of a germ/bug-aphobe.

I wonder what I'm missing out on...

Catching up with a 5QF!!

HEY!! Guess what? I'm back on my blog (at least for today :)). It's been super busy and crazy these last few weeks, and although I've so wanted to post a Thoughtful Thursday, I just haven't felt too inspired-- there's a lot of stuff going on IRL so it's tough to sit down and focus on writing... but I'm hoping for a calm soon so I can get back in the swing of things (plus I have a product to review very soon.... stay tuned!!!).

In the meantime....

it's FIVE QUESTION FRIDAY TIME!!!

Questions for Friday, April 9th: (Thanks to Renee, Pam, LulaLola, Robin, and Me!! for their question suggestions! Wanna be linked in a future 5QF? Head on over to myBlog Frog community to offer up YOUR best question suggestions! Oh, and does anyone think we need to start a fresh thread for 5QF over there? Sometimes, I feel lost with all the questions over there!)

1. Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?

In high school, I was compared to several movie stars (by looks), although I think/thought I looked like NONE of them. A few people said Melissa Gilbert from her Little House on the Prairie days, a few said Molly Ringwald, but the most unusual and frequent name that I got was...

Julia Roberts.

No lie. I still to this day think I look NOTHING like her, but it was so commonly brought up, something must have made people think of her when they looked at me. When I was working at my first job at Food Lion as a cashier, a woman approached me and said her daughter wanted my autograph because she thought I was "Pretty Woman". HA!!!

Again, I look NOTHING like her...

As for today, I think I could probably get away with Kathy Bates or something...

2. Did you ever go to summer camp?

Since I was from a family of 5 kids, we didn't get to go to summer camp. Just too expensive. However, I did go to band camp twice in high school since I was in marching band.

(and no it was nothing like they portray it on the movie American Pie)

3. What sends you running and screaming in the other direction?

Snakes, usually. If I'm not caught off guard by them, I usually just sit still and see where they go, but if I happen upon them when I'm not prepared, it's a scaaaaaaary situation all together.

4. What is something you do that drives your spouse nuts?

Probably reminding him to chew with his mouth closed.... he can't stand that

5. What is currently your favorite song?

Grr, that one is too hard. My favorite song changes sooooo often... but I have to say I've been listening to this one a lot lately...

I have a super busy day or two or three ahead of me (bake a cake, decorate said cake, shop for birthday present, get Lady M to her first ever gymnastics show, celebrate Miss Priss's birthday tomorrow with the in-laws, church on Sunday morning, Miss Priss's birthday party with my fam on Sunday afternoon and decorating for the party..... I know I'm forgetting something, but that's all my mental tasklist will hold at the moment)---- So lemme get this thing going here!!

Questions for Friday, 3/19/10: (Thanks to Ann, Lula Lola,Pam, Robin, and Lily for their question suggestions!! Wanna be linked in a future 5QF? Head on over here, to my community, and offer up your best questions! Anything flies!!)

1. Have you ever had a celeb sighting?

Ha!! I live in NC, not in Los Angeles, California!! With that said, I can say that we rented a house in the mountains of NC where my mom said she saw Cindy Crawford with her kids at the house next door. I cannot verify it, I didn't see it, but she still thinks thats who was staying in the rental house down the road.

I have met several celebrities (not really sightings), like Carson Daly, Jay-Z and DJ Skribble, several bands/singers from my prodigal days (like Jon Popper of Blues Travelers, the Dave Matthews Band, Sublime, Hed(pe), Static-X, Powerman 5000, Sevendust)  and tons of Christian artists, like Toby Mac, Brandon Heath, George Huff, Mandisa, Josh Wilson, Paul Colman, the Afters, and I could probably add several more, but I gotta start working on that cake soon!!

2. What temperature do you keep your house?

Right now, when our heat is on (which we have been cutting off during the day because of the GLORIOUS weather) it's set at 67. Then in the summer, we usually have the AC set on 76 (because it's just too cold for me otherwise). We have ceiling fans in EVERY room (except the bathrooms and laundry room), so the air circulates super well.

3. Do you notice dust at other peoples homes?

Who looks for that? If you were to visit my house right now, at this very moment, you would find at least a weeks worth of dust buildup on my TV and TV stand, end tables, etc. The rest of the house more than likely has enough dust to comprise the remains of at least 12 of my ancestors....I should do more about that I guess.

4. What's the worst job you ever had?

That's a tough call... well, I worked at Rack Room Shoes, when it was in a VERY bad location. I was working one Saturday morning when my manager was robbed at gunpoint in the front of the store and I was obliviously helping a customer towards the back....shortly after, a new manager was hired who had something against me, and the day I quit, she grabbed me around the neck with both hands, lifting my feet from the floor... needless to say, I got my things and walked out....

Then I moved onto the mall, where I was an assistant manager at a CD store, where I had my very first super scary run in with a stalker.....authorities were called, the situation ended after several weeks....

Oh- and let's not forget the job where I was working the front desk at a tank manufacturing company, being only the 2nd female employee there, and frequently being called into the plant managers office, where he was sitting with his hands down his pants.... I was fired from that place for getting pregnant... and was paid a severance package so that I wouldn't file a lawsuit...

Yeah--- I don't have the best track record of employers....

5. What is your most sentimental possession?

Oh, I just don't know.... I'm not a materialistic person.... I have a lot of sentimental memories, but I'm not sure if I have a "most sentimental possession".

Okay, just for the sake of answering, let's say my silver cross necklace. My dad bought it for my grandmother when he was around 16. Shortly before she died, she gave the necklace back to him and told him to give it to me when he thought I was old enough to take care of it.... and I still have it...

Five Question Friday

Thank GOD it's Friday!! I'm so glad, it's been a bit of a ________ week (or two) for me! But today it's Friday, and I've got a busy/fun weekend ahead of me.

Now, let's get down to the nitty gritty here... 5QF!! I've been slack in participating lately, but I know that my loving friends that stop by on a regular basis are gracious enough to give a just-past-first-trimester-preggers- mommy a break. With all that said, here are the rules (per Mama M.- click the button above to go visit her wonderful blog!):

Rules for 5QF: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then c'mon back and link up (grab the code too, if you'd like!!). I would love, love, LOVE it if you'd link back to Mama M., the nut job behind the fun that is Five Question Friday! (her words, not mine :))

Questions for Friday, 3/12: (Thanks to Erica, Erin, Renee,Pam, and me (I'm dying to know the bed making thing...) for their question suggestions! Wanna be linked in a future 5QF? Mosey on over here, to my community, and offer up your best questions!)

1. How much time do you spend on the computer a day?

Oh my- that's a good questions. There are days that I don't even look at my computer, but on the days that I do, I guess I spend a good hour or two on here. Is that too much? Does it make me a neglectful mama??

2. Will you pay for your children's college or raise them to pay for their own way?

Honestly, I haven't given it too much thought. We have a little money (emphasis on little) in a savings account that's sort of earmarked for that, but with inflation and all that good stuff, I'm urging my daughters to do their best and pray for scholarships. I don't want to set them up for hardship right out of college by having to pay back college loans, so I guess it's something I need to give a bit more thought.

3. Have you ever been in a car accident?

Funny you should ask....

Just last week, I turned the van over on it's side in a ditch. Prior to that, I've not had an accident in over 5 years. Only once was another vehicle involved, and it was the other drivers fault (rear end collision). Typically, I'm the doofus that nose dives into deep, and I mean deep, ditches. Or, I take out those huge construction pylons or cones. That happened once when I was driving home from my classes in college. I still hold firmly to the belief that there were NO warning signs that the lane was closed, and by the time I reached the barriers, I couldn't change lanes, traffic was just too thick.

But you can still trust me to get you safely where you need to go... honestly!!

4. What is your favorite book?

Well, without much thought, I'd have to say the Holy Bible. It's the only book I've ever found that truly offers all the answers (or a way to get them).

As far as novels go, that's so much tougher. I guess I would have to say, When Crickets Cry by Charles Martin is one of my most favorites. If you've never had a chance to read anything by this author, I suggest you start with the first ones he wrote (The Dead Don't Dance and Wrapped in Rain), and completely skip the last one (I was not impressed with Where the River Ends). He's a superb writer, and I'm hoping his next novel that's set to come out in June will redeem my opinion of where his novel left me.

Another of my favorites is The Scarlet Thread by Francine Rivers. Oooo, and Redeeming Love. Okay, so I just can't make a decision between my faves...

5. Do you make your bed everyday?

Uhhh, no. In fact, it's rarely made. Sadly, I'm the type who only goes in my bedroom for sleeping, and could care less if the bed is neat when I get in. By that time of day, I'm in "crash and burn" mode and most of the time have already fallen asleep on the couch.

But I do at least change my sheets regularly :)

Five Question Friday Time!!!

My Little Life

WOO-HOO!! It's Friday! It has been a LONG week, not really sure why, maybe because I'm waiting for March 1st, when I go to the doctor to make sure Baby Bito still has a heartbeat. As much as I try not to get anxious about it all, tomorrow is that 11 week 5 day mark where 2 of my last 3 babies hearts have stopped beating. BUT this time is gonna be different!! I just know it!!

Anywho---- I've been a bit lazy about blogging this week, but I know that my super awesome followers will forgive me, because they understand that sometimes you just don't have much to say.... and I'd hate to bore anyone with mundane details about how I cleaned my house all to pieces yesterday, but desperately need a new vacuum cleaner... like I said, boring!!

SO I'm jumping back into the blogging world, if only for today this week, to do a 5QF. If you are new here, welcome!! If you're a regular reader but haven't ever participated in Mama M's super fun bloggy carnival, then what are you waiting for??? It's just fun!! All you gotta do is copy the questions, add your answers, and link up with the McLinky. It's soooo easy!! And if you don't have a blog (which I know a lot of my friends are reading this) you should go start one, it's fun!! I'll even help you if you want, just let me know!

And so.... here We GO!!!

Questions for Friday, February 19th: (Thanks to Renee, Christy,Heidi, Lisa P, and Robin for their question suggestions! Would YOU like to be linked in a future 5QF? Just offer up your best questions here, in my community!)

1. Have you ever hit an animal with your vehicle?

I'm not really sure... I think I've probably taken out a squirrel before, because in this neck of the woods, they are all too prevalent. It's more like pest control....

I promise I'm not trying to sound cold...

The thing I hate to hit the most is butterflies. I've been driving along on hot days in the summer, and when I get out of my mommy-mobile, I've seen more than one plastered on the grill. It's so sad...

2. When you see a string on your clothes do you pull it off or cut if off?

Just depends really. If it's a sweater type thing, typically I cut it off. I have been stupid enough to pull that string before and ended up with a HUGE gaping hole, so I've tried to remember not to let my penchant for picking at things get the best of me.

But I do have a lot of camisole tanks that the hem is coming out of from allowing myself the pleasure of pulling... and pulling... and pulling on that string...

3. Did you have your own room or share a room when you were young?

Well, let's see. I grew up in a family of 7--- 3 brothers, and one sister. Originally our house had 3 bedrooms, but when baby 5 (my lil sister Amanda) came along, the carport was closed into a bedroom for my parents. Even still, you do the math. Four bedrooms, 7 people. YES I shared a room. My little brother and I shared a room when we were really small, then I shared a room with my little sister until I was nearly out of high school. When I finally got that room to myself, I felt like I had won the lottery! :)

4. Would you rather wear the same thing for the rest of your life or eat the same thing for the rest of your life?

Ewww, do I really have to decide that??

Honestly, I don't know that I can choose. Is that okay? I mean, right now, my wardrobe is limited because winter is ending and spring will be here soon (at least that's what I keep telling myself), and I don't want to buy a lot of winter maternity clothes when Baby Bito is due at the beginning of September. So I'm wearing a limited number of pants anyway. I could probably wear the same thing everyday without too much concern, as long as I could clean it daily.

As for food, I'm the kind of person that goes through phases of wanting to eat the same thing daily anyway... but saying that I could only eat such-and-such for the rest of my life??? I'd probably starve myself to death after a few weeks...

5. What was your favorite TV show as a child?

As a little kid, I LOVED Sesame Street. I watched it EVERY SINGLE day. I remember when I was five I had to have surgery on my eyes, and when I woke up from the surgery, I was so disappointed that I'd missed Sesame Street that I pouted the rest of the day. Never mind that my eye was swollen and hurting, I'd missed my favorite show!!

I liked stuff like the Cosby Show, Fall Guy, and Growing Pains (because of my SUPER crush on Kirk Cameron). Then when ABC came out with the TGIF shows, like Full House, Family Matters, Step by Step, etc, those quickly became my favorites. Why don't they make more wholesome things like that anymore?? Oh well, a girl can dream....

The Lovey Dovey Special

My Little Life

Since I forgot to participate last week (I'm really slacking in joining my favorite memes, sorry friends!!), I'm gonna cut right to the chase and jump in!! If you wanna play along, click the link above to go to Mama M's place.

Questions for Friday, 2/12/10: (Thanks to Jennifer, Maryanne (private blog), Heidi, Jodi, and Jessica for their question suggestions!! Wanna be linked in a future 5QF? Head on over here, to my community and offer up your best questions!)

1. What is the one thing your love does for you that you can't live without?

Oh- ya'll are gonna be so jealous...

My husband give the VERY BEST foot rubs. No lie. All I have to do is ask, and sometimes I don't even have to do that... he'll just come into the living room when I'm lounging around with a bottle of lotion, lift my legs, sit himself down and get to work. He's the BEST!!

Alright now ladies, the Bible says not to covet... I'm sure your honey has some good qualities too, but you can't have mine!!

2. When did you know your love was "the one"?

That's kinda tough... Boss and I met in August of 2004, and I think we started talking about getting married around October. It was just talk, but for whatever reason, he just felt like "the one".  I remember one time we were sitting on the couch at his house, watching TV, when he kind of reached over and pulled me close, and just started looking into my face. No words, no making out, just studying everything. I was uncomfortable at first, but I could see such a deep affection in his eyes, it was overwhelming.... I guess that was when I really "knew".

3. Does your love have a special ringtone on your cell?

Uh.... no.

Can I be honest? I think custom ringtones are a waste of money. Don't hate me please. I mean, my dear hubby works his hiney off and I just don't like to think that I'm wasting money on a sound that tells me it's him calling.

Now, with that said, our home phone ringer is set to a "distinctive" tone so we know when he's calling.

Does that count as special?

4. What are you attracted to most in your special someone?

Gosh-

Ya'll make it hard for a girl to think of just one attractive quality...

I've always been a sucker for blue eyes, and Boss definitely has blue eyes. So there's one thing... and his crooked smile. One side of his mouth turns up more than the other, kind of lopsided. Cute :)

I think what attracts me most to him nowadays though is watching him with the girls. The things that drive me CRAZY that the little ladies do are no big deal to him. The screaming fits, the petty fights, that kind of stuff, it just rolls right off of him. And he can get so silly when he's playing with them, they're all doubled over laughing. I think being a great dad make a man VERY attractive :)

5. Did you know when/where he/she was going to pop the big question?

Umm, well, kinda. Maybe.

See, we were engaged on the day after New Years (January 2, 2005) at the Carolina Panthers stadium in Charlotte. I'm a HUGE Panthers fan, so he bought me tickets as part of my Christmas gift. The night before the game, he was at my house (which was my parents house) for the traditional New Years dinner my mom always fixes. I remember before he left, he asked my dad to come outside with him for a minute. I gotta say, I was a little suspicious.

But the next day, on the way to the game, I was just so stoked about getting to see a live Panthers game that I totally forgot about the night before. When we got to the stadium, I was running around like a kid in a candy store. Seriously, from the giant panther statues, to the pregame festivities all over the place, and finally, Boss said, "Can you just stop for a second??" Apparently, he'd been wanting to pop the question at just the right time, so he pulled me over beside one of the giant panthers, got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. I was so caught off guard, I just about ran the other direction, but then I realized what he was doing and nearly screamed :) I grabbed Boss and the ring simultaneously and yelled YES before he could even ask! He got someone to take our picture together, and the very next second I was dragging him off to see more football stuff :)

But it was perfect :)

Now go grab the questions, and get on the McLinky train!!! Have a great weekend everyone!!
