It's Monday again... and I'm still half asleep!! I didn't sleep well at all last night, not sure why, just lots of tossing and turning... probably just pregnancy sleeplessness starting :)

It's a Pick a Song day over at Keeping Up With the Kellys , so I'm picking one that I LOVE to hear every time it comes on the radio.

Music Monday time again!! The weekend was pulled off successfully, Lady M showed us all her gymnastics skills at her gym show Saturday, and yesterday we had an awesome service at church, following by THE best princess party ever for my now 3 year old daughter!! It was busy, but so much fun :)


Today's MM theme is to pick a song from your high school days.... 


I remember LOTS of songs that were big at when I was in high school. It was a tough choice, but I decided to stick with "happy and upbeat". This one came out around my senior year....

Today's theme is "pick your favorite song from the 70's". Well, this may not be my favorite, but when we were traveling out of the range of our favorite radio stations a few months back, we decided to hit the "scan" button on the radio. You really never know what you may be exposing your kids to when you do that, so we were listening very carefully to the content of the songs and rushing past anything that sounded too nasty. BUT where we landed was quite funny.

Miss Priss loves a song with a great beat, and she heard this one and begged us to leave it there. Now, anytime we can't pick up what we normally listen to on the radio (that being WBFJ or KLOVE), she wants to hear the infamous KC & the Sunshine Band song, "Shake Your Booty", released in 1976.

Music Monday!!!

 It's Monday, and I'm finally jumping back into somewhat of a routine... I haven't been sick in about two weeks, so hopefully the "morning" sickness is OVER!! So since things are beginning to level out, I'm jumping back into one of my most favorite memes, MUSIC MONDAY!! If you wanna join in, click the button and go visit Tara at Keeping Up With The Kellys. Today's theme is to pick a song from your favorite band artist. Well, for me, that's nearly impossible. I don't think I've actually had a favorite band or artist for some time now. I listen to so much music, all the time, all different kinds... it's just too difficult to narrow it down...


Today I chose this new recording of Third Day and Brandon Heath doing a cover of Rich Mullin's song "Creed". Third Day has been a long time favorite of mine, I've listened to them since nearly the beginning of their career. I got Brandon Heath's first album the week it came out and have been hooked on his pure voice ever since... his voice very much portrays his heart. I met him once, and found him to be so ordinary and humble, with a real heart for God. As for the song, it's also a long time favorite. Rich Mullins was an artist who wrote his songs and sang them in a totally different way, and I still think no one can be compared to his stylings musically. He told a story with his lyrics, in a way no one else in today's music can quite match. This cover song is SO amazing, and I'm sure if Rich Mullins were alive today, he would be very impressed himself.

Today's theme is "pick a song from your wedding".

Funny story: Boss and I were engaged on January 2, 2005. He bought tickets to a Carolina Panthers game
for me for Christmas 2004. I know, most women would not love that gift, but I LOVE FOOTBALL!! So it was perfect for me. We were at the last game of the season for the Panthers, and before the game, Boss popped the question. I'm so glad he didn't do the cheesy over-the-giant-screen-in-the-middle-of-the-stadium- proposal, because I probably would've said no. After the game, he told me he decided to propose pre-game in case the Panthers lost, because he thought it may spoil my mood and I'd say no :)

Anyway, we started planning a small wedding for April, because I've never been the kind of girl to dream of a wedding. I truly never, ever, ever, ever pictured myself, not even as a little girl, as a beautiful bride in a flowing white gown. So we didn't need a lot of time to plan.

March rolled around, and we were looking at spending money, and spending money, and spending money. So, on the 15th of March, I woke up, got ready for work, and on my way there, got a wild hair. I called Boss and said, "Hey, let's just go to the courthouse and get married." He was surprised, but agreed. He called his best friend to come along as a witness, so I was married by the Clerk of Court in Randolph County :)  And it was all I needed.

However, since I was a single mom at the time, Lady M did not believe we'd gotten married. She thought a formal wedding ceremony had to take place and she had to be there. So, we went ahead with plans to have a teeny tiny church wedding on our originally scheduled date of April 30. We invited people by phone, I ditched the big dress we'd bought in February, and wore a simple sun dress. The ceremony was sweet, with Boss saying vows to Lady M as well as me, and Lady M came away with a ring too (only she lost it the very next day.)

So, at our teeny tiny ceremony, two songs were played.... and here they are:

I feel like my life is going on around me and I'm in a haze. I guess it's that early preggers brain or something. Saturday we had a birthday party for my nephew who turned the big ol' ONE! He's such a cutie!! Then we went out with my sister and her boyfriend for dinner & dessert. I definitely don't make enough time for my sis!!  Overall it was a good weekend, even though I didn't get my Sunday afternoon nap :(

There's no theme for today's Music Monday over at Keeping Up With The Kellys , which means I get to pick whatever I want to pickle your brains today!! Just kidding, I'll try to keep my craziness under control for you. So far it looks like Miley Cyrus has been posted twice, once at We 5 Kings and also over at The Mitchell's . So I am DEFINITELY not posting a Miley song. :)

 Instead, I'm posting a song off of my girls' new favorite CD, this is the title track. Britt Nicole is actually a North Carolina girl (which you can tell from her accent!!!  too cute!)  I haven't ever seen the video before today, but it's definitely great! We have oppportunities to reach out to people every day (here is an opportunity I missed out on).

It's officially 2010!! I wrote my first check yesterday and actually wrote the right year!! Of course, I probably just jinxed myself for saying anything... you know how that goes!

On to Music Monday- "pick your favorite Rockin' in the New Year party song". Since both my little ladies are hanging on to me this morning, I let them pick my song for today. This is their favorite song, and I can't help but like it a little bit :)  Who doesn't like a video where the underdog wins?!

Christmas is over for the year, and I have to say, it's nice to be done with the stressful parts. The shopping, the crowds, the trips here, there and yonder.... every year I think it would just be nice to stay home for the whole week of Christmas!!

I've had a hard time thinking of a song to post today, so I just went to YouTube and punched in "good music". And that's how I got today's video.

I first heard this song when I watched the movie "She's Having A Baby", with Kevin Bacon. I fell in LOVE with that movie the first time I saw it and this song was on the soundtrack sung by Kate Bush. This is the video for Maxwell's cover of the song, "This Woman's Work." This guy has got a voice!! I love men who can sing women songs :)

Sorry I've abandoned my blog for almost a full week, and haven't done a 25 days post in forever, but let's face it, Christmas is too busy to think about posting somthing everyday. SO, on to the task at hand....

Wow I'm having trouble getting my act together this morning. I've been trying to post this for about 30 minutes now, but I kept getting html errors, what's up with that?? ANYway, Tara hasn't assigned a theme to today's MM, so it's a free for all!! If you wanna join in, click the pic above and hop on the McLinky!

My friend Marc gave me the Chris Tomlin Christmas CD, "Glory in the Highest", the other day. I love Chris Tomlin, but I've never owned any of his CDs (I KNOW, for me to be so into worship music, you'd think I'd have to possess one of his CDs....well I do now, so read on!!). The CD has a lot of Christmas carols on it, with a few new songs. My favorite one, however, is one of the ones NOT sung by Chris Tomlin. This one is by Audrey Assad (and on the CD Chris sings a harmony line). I was first introduced to her music through the story of Kate McRae. Shortly after the diagnosis for Kate, Audrey wrote a song called, Little Light, which is just beautiful. So when I heard her voice driving down the road listening to the Chris Tomlin CD, I looked to see who sang it, and sure enough, it's who I thought. What an amazing song, and even more, what an amazing voice...

Today's theme: Pick a song from your first concert.

This one is SO tough for me because I've seen a bazillion concerts in my lifetime, and my memory is atrocious. When I was a pre-teen and teenager, I went with my youth group to every Christian concert we could get tickets to. The first "real" concert that I can remember going to was Steven Curtis Chapman. In fact, he was probably on his tour following his first or second album. He had a mullet type thing going on, and he looked like he was about 12. But I remember thinking, this guy will be around for a LONG time.  Since then I've seen him in concert 2 other times, once as a Valentines gift from my husband (which was probably the best V-day gift EVER, it was very small, very intimate, and we had Q&A time with Steven and his wife Mary Beth, complete with chocolate covered strawberries), the other at the Women of Faith conference in Greensboro just over a month ago. And he's even better now than he was way back when.

Here is a video from one of the songs off his latest album. He and his family have endured so much over the last year and a half. I can't write details because it's not my story to tell.... you can hear his own story here.

Music Monday!!

 

It's MONDAY again?! How did that happen so fast? This past weekend totally threw off my entire sense of time and time management. Boss was off work for 4 days in a row, which NEVER happens, so I pretty much stopped everything just so we could all spend time as a family. It was so wonderful!!

So now I'm back, with a new song for you all, and exciting news for my plans for December.... I'll go ahead and let the cat out of the bag since December starts tomorrow. Tomorrow begins my brand spankin' new 25 Days of Christmas blog!!! My plan is to post all kinds of fun crafts,yummy snacks, homemade gifts  and ideas of things to do between now and the Big Day!! So make sure you come by to check it all out!!

This song is from JJ Heller. My sister introduced me to her music after she heard the song on "So You Think You Can Dance".  Diana Drexler was auditioning for the show in New Orleans, and danced to this song. It was very moving, she'd just lost her grandfather the day before the audition... and sometimes we need to be reminded of the truth in this one...  This is just a short one verse/chorus sample of the song, but you can look her up on Myspace or YouTube if you wanna hear more.

Tara's theme for the day: music from the 2000's.

GEE Tara, that's practically all I listen to.

That's okay, I've got something... Brooke Fraser is one of my very very very most favorite artists. She sings with Hillsong United (one of my favorite worship groups), and writes lots of worship music too (think "Hosanna" and "Lead Me to the Cross" and "None But Jesus") but she also has 2 solo albums. This one is from the album of the same name, just released in the United States last year, but I believe it came out in New Zealand a year or so before that.

She has out so many songs, it was hard to choose which one to post, but with Thanksgiving coming up this week, we may need a reminder of all we have to be thankful for...

Quickly posting because I am working on my brand new made by myself layout and blog makeover (again)..

At the end of my fabulously wonderful day, I can't help but wonder what would've happened today if I hadn't made an important change in my life about 9 years ago. Where would I be? Would I still be a "prodigal", running away from everything I knew to be good and true? It's amazing to know that I am alive, married with 2  children, and have NO addictions (except maybe to caffiene), which is so very different from the place I was in 2000. Funny how we change... and amazing how God works it all out in us...

So my song for the day is a favorite of mine.... I hope you enjoy. And even more, I hope you know the HOPE that is shown in this video. It's real, and it can be yours.

*a side note: i am still working on my "heartfelt award" winners... it's just taking me a lot longer than i expected.... i have 5, i need 4 more...

Music Monday

Today's song is one that I've listened to a million times before... it hits a nerve in me. Sort of reflects a path I've been walking for a year and a half.

I was told before I had Miss Priss that I shouldn't take birth control pills anymore because I'd had an allergic reaction to them. Boss and I had been wanting to start trying to get pregnant anyway, so we just looked at it as God's timing. Two months off the pill and I was pregnant with Miss Priss. Other than extreme "morning" sickness, which is typical for me in pregnancy, everything was normal and healthy. Miss Priss was born on March 20, 2007.

Ten months later I found out I was pregnant again. Boss and I had been using "protection" but for whatever reason, I became pregnant anyway. Of course, we weren't trying this time, but again, we just thought it was God's timing. I was sick as a dog, which to me, meant everything was going well.

Right before I found out I was pregnant, Boss was laid off work. We weren't offered COBRA insurance coverage (I know, it's illegal, we could have taken them to court, etc, but it would have been pointless). So my only option, being pregnant, was to go to the Social Services office. I sucked up my pride and went, got Medicaid for pregnant women, and made an appointment with my doctor.

At my first appointment, I'd been so sick that morning, and when I got to the doctor's office, I'd forgotten to bring my social security card to prove I was who I said I was and had medicaid. It was insane that they refused to see me, since I'd been a patient there for at least 7 years. Regardless, they didn't budge, and I missed my first appointment. At that time, I was eight weeks pregnant.

The next appointment was scheduled for about 4 weeks later. At my OB/GYN office, they take you into a nurses office for your first visit, and go over all of the prenatal tests you can choose to have done if you want. I just wanted to get through all of that talk asap so that I could see the first ultrasound. I elected "no" to all tests, and she gave me the giant freebie bag they always give out, full of magazines, free samples, and other information about birthing classes and the like.

In the room with the doctor, she was asking the normal questions, "have you had any issues?" yes, throwing up gallons as usual, but other than that, none. She had doppler thing to hear the heart beat set up, and started moving it over my abdomen. There was a heartbeat, but it was my own. She moved the device, over and over and over again, still no quick little fluttering of a tiny baby beginning... she said not to worry, sometimes it just didn't pick up. We moved to the ultrasound room.

My fear was confirmed. According to the ultrasound, there was no heartbeat. The baby had developed to 11 weeks, 5 days, and for whatever reason, the heart stopped.

I was alone at this appointment, since Boss had started a new job, he was afraid to take time off for fear of not making a good first impression. A D&C was scheduled for a couple of weeks later, since I was so reluctant to have anything done. In fact, before the D&C, I showed up at the office and begged for another ultrasound, just to make sure there was no sign of life. One of the physicians complied, only to confirm what they'd already seen. No heartbeat.

Three months later I was pregnant again, and at the exact due date of the first pregnancy, I found myself in the doctors office, going through an ultrasound again, and seeing no heartbeat, again. The baby again only developed to 11 weeks, 5 days. Only this time I'd carried to 13 and a half weeks.

And on my husband's birthday this year, I took a pregnancy test, which was positive. This time, the baby only developed to 4 weeks, which is basically no more than an egg sac. At nine and a half weeks, I miscarried.

So now we are in the testing process, trying to figure out how I've had 2 healthy beautiful little girls, and now can't seem to carry a pregnancy full term, for whatever reason. Today I will be going for my second round of bloodwork at WFUBMC Center for Reproductive Medicine. In a few weeks I'll have a "saline ultrasound" to see if there's any part of my organs that are working incorrectly. And if they see nothing wrong, and the bloodwork shows nothing definitive, we will be ushered out without any explanations as to why I don't have a nursery, or crib, or little one in my arms.

So today, and for the next few weeks, I'll be clinging to God. Praying that He will hold me through it all, and prepare me for whatever is or is not found. And if we get no answers, it will have to be enough. I will have to simply rest in the only True and Noble God, knowing that He knows what He's doing, and trusting that He is raising my sweet babies for me in His glorious home.

Here's my first Music Monday--- I'm not sure why I've not done this before since I LOVE music, and most of my life involves it in some way or another... Thanks to Tara at Keeping Up With the Kellys

Anyway, today I'm posting one of my favorite worship songs. It's a little different because it's sung from the perspective of Jesus, singing to us, His bride. I sang this Thursday night at our Women of Faith kickoff night (and I didn't do it justice, but thankfully, the Holy Spirit just needs a willing heart). So often we as women find ourselves in a gutter of sorts, looking in the mirror and saying,"I'm fat", or "I wish I could change my nose/eyes/mouth/skin", and just basically hating on ourselves. With the message of the world coming in at ALL sides, from TV, movies, magazines, friends, billboards, co-workers, etc, we are bombarded that we are to look like this, or dress like that, or be the exact same shape as Barbie. But in the great economy of God, the only thing we have to do is be ourselves, and be the best we can be for the glory of God. He loves us no matter what.
