Potty Training a Princess

We've been working on getting Miss Priss fully potty trained since last summer. With Lady M, it was a breeze, she wanted to be a big girl, and at 17 months, she was going to the potty, wearing her big girl panties, the whole nine yards.

Miss Priss is different.

The only way she will use the potty is if she's bottomless. For whatever reason, she believes if something is touching her bottom, it's there to catch whatever comes out of her. We've tried letting her wear regular panties so she can "feel" when she's wet, but it's still the same thing, she pees in them and just keeps going.

So this week, even though I'm still fighting the yuck belly that comes with the first trimester, we decided to try again with the panties. Monday wasn't too eventful, a few leaks in the underwear, but for the most part she did great. Tuesday came around, and I found Miss Priss bottomless again.

I sat down here at the desk as Miss Priss was playing behind me on the sofa, trying to get out an email to our homeschool group that we wouldn't be able to make it to the field trip scheduled on Tuesday afternoon. As I was logging on and getting ready to type, I smelled something foul.

I asked Miss Priss, "Do you need to go to the potty?"

Miss Priss: "No."

So I typed my email, clicked send, and realized the smell seemed more intense. "Miss Priss, did you poopy?" (My eyes were already scanning the room, and my stomach was churning at the thought of cleaning up the mess).

Miss Priss; "No."

Me: "Miss Priss, I smell poopy Where did you go? Did you use the potty?"

Miss Priss: "No."

Me (at this point, much more frustrated): "Miss Priss, where is the poopy????"

Bottomless Miss Priss leans over on the couch, butt up in the air, and points to her crack.

"It's in the hole."

Apparently, she'd only passed a little gas, instead of actually doing the deed, and she's figured out exactly where it comes from. At least she's learning a little about her own anatomy in the process of putting the mess where it goes.

  1. LOL I thought you were going to say you had sat in it!! I think we will start training Andrew when it gets a tad warmer (in other words, NOT this weekend). I'm going to try letting him run around stark naked and constantly feeding him juice and putting him on the potty every 15 mins. I've "heard" that takes care of it all at once and none of that buying Pull-ups. Guess we'll see.

  2. Oh my word!!!! Hilarious!!!! :) Michaela Byrd thinks it's fun to sit on the doll's potty, but she won't go near the big one b/c she wandered in the bathroom and fell in the toilet a week ago when I was washing dishes. :s

  3. Buah ha ha! It's in the hole! You should write all of this down, so you can read these things to her on her wedding day. :)
