Five Question Friday

Yippee!! Once again, it's FRIDAY!! And here's a big accomplishment for me, I haven't vomited in a full week!!! YAY!!! I'm hoping that's a good thing, and not something that means Baby is not doing well, but I'm still trusting God on this...

If you happen to live in NC like me, you know we are gearing up for what all the weather folks are calling a humdinger of a winter storm. Now let me issue a disclaimer to all you Northerners, in the South, a humdinger of a storm means that we get 3 or more inches of freezing precipitation. And from what I heard on the news around lunch time, we're actually in the 8-12 inch of snow range.... which means all of the stores are sold out of bread, milk, sleds, shovels, heaters and snow boots. Thankfully, I already had a loaf of bread (and an extra in the freezer) and 3 gallons of milk in the fridge, plus a pantry full of canned veggies, soups and peanut butter. I'm just praying we don't have a power outage, since we tend to get more ICE than anything...

Moving right along...

Here's the 5QF for today! As always, click the button at the top to go check out Mama M's blog, and feel free to join the mad house on the McLinky!

Questions for Friday, 1/29/10: (Muchos gracias to my friends, Lisa P., LizMegan, and Thorney London for their question suggestions! Wanna be linked in a future 5QF? Just leave me a question suggestion here, in my community! It's fun and totally not scary...I promise! Check it out!)

1. Would you ever vacation alone?

Well, right now, I would LOVE to take some time out for just me. Is that selfish?? Sometimes I think it would be great to run up to the mountains and rent a cabin and just sit on the porch and listen to the trees, wind, birds, animals....

I went to a conference alone about a year and a half ago, and it was probably one of the best things I've ever done. I think that when you are completely alone, you have more time to focus, and to clear your head of all of the daily routine things that happen to cross your mind... I'd definitely like to do that again!!

2. Do you go the speed limit?

Uh, no. See, I remember specifically learning in drivers ed that the posted speed limit is just the suggested speed limit, unless it has the words "maximum" on it. And frankly, I've never seen a sign that said "maximum" with the numbers of the MPH. So after getting a few speeding tickets in my lifetime, I've talked with several of the more local police officers and they recommend keeping your speed no more than 10 miles over the posted limit. I usually try to stay around 7-8 miles over.... so I think that's legal. I mean, if the police say so, it must be so, right??

3. Why did you start blogging/following blogs?

When I had a myspace account, I started a blog there because I thought it would be fun. No one ever read it, until I chronicled my day to day journey through radiation therapy. Then, all of a sudden, I had quite a following of people, some who had been there before, or who knew people who'd had to go through radiation, some just following because they were interested. I so wish that I'd actually saved those posts to my hard drive, because about 2 months after I completed my rad therapy, my myspace account suddenly disappeared. I never was able to get anything back, and I didn't think it was worth it to try to start a new account. I stopped blogging all together until about 6 months later, when I actually joined the blogspot community :) I guess it's all just about being able to have a place to vent, or to keep up with those cute things your kids are saying, or getting some encouragement when you feel really crappy about yourself. I love to read blogs for the same reason, most of the time they will make my day better, because they'll bring a smile to my face. It's just a great way to interact with the world :)

4. Where do you shop for yourself?

What? Shop for myself?? Take a minute and go read my little thing under my picture on the right sidebar and you will see that I'm a stay at home mama. Doesn't that automatically mean I have no money to waste on such frivolous things as clothes???

Okay, I'm exaggerating...

When I actually have extra money in the budget to spend, I like to shop at New York & Company (used to be Lerners). Most of the time I can find stuff that fits there....

Now that I'm preggers, I'm going to have to break down and drive a few miles to find an Old Navy with a maternity department. They're the only place that makes jeans long enough to fit my super long legs.... I thought I'd try to find some jeans today, but everything I put on looks like it was made for women 4' 8" tall. Plus, some maternity jeans are just made BADLY!! I mean, do you have to sew pleats into the fabric below the tummy panel??? What's that supposed to do??

5. What was the song that you danced your first dance with your spouse to at your wedding...or...what song would you like your first dance to be to?

Well, if you check out this post, you'll know that we had a teeny tiny mock church wedding, because we'd already gotten married at the courthouse. So, in our teeny, tiny wedding, we didn't dance to any song. What would I have liked to dance to?? Honestly, I've never given it much thought. Maybe Chantal Kreviazuk "Feels Like Home"? Who knows?

And that's that! The end! Hop on board and join the fun!! Check back tomorrow for an update on the winter storm of the decade (LOL!!) !!

  2. Happy SITS Saturday! Maternity clothes, ugh. I have to say they have gotten way better than they used to be though. When I was preggo with my first two (now 10 and 12) they were horrendous! Not much selection and way out dated looking stuff. I was delighted to find stores like Old Navy selling maternity clothes when I had my third. I wonder if it has anything to do with all the celebrities going preggo now. It has sort of become a fashion statement to be pregnant these days! Good luck with your pregnancy.
