Thoughtful Thursday- Global Warming/ "Climate-gate"

Today I'm thinking about what's been on a lot of minds recently. We're all aware, at least here in America, of this crazy cold and wet winter we've been having. Here in the central part of NC, we've had more snow than we've seen in several years, and a friend told me the other day that the farmers' almanac is saying we're still in for more. I sure hope it's wrong, I'm tired of snow!!

Not to mention earthquakes. January brought an absolutely devastating earthquake to Haiti, and last week, Chile fell victim to the same calamity.

It appears that "global warming", more recently dubbed "climate change", is to blame.

Our president, and several leaders from other nations have decided that global warming is such an issue that they are pushing to mandate changes across the world to help reduce the human footprint on our environment.

And it's all had me thinking...

What does it all mean? Are the earthquakes tied to global warming? Is the super wet winter in any way a result of our earthly mismanagement? IS GLOBAL WARMING EVEN REAL??

I'm aware that this blog is not one that you would normally read here at Made In Secret. But since it's been on my mind recently, I'd like to share my thoughts and get some of yours!!

I've watched several shows over the years about how we're going to eventually end up killing ourselves (the human race) and our planet, and there are many different scenarios as to how various scientists say it will happen. Some say through biological warfare, others say it will be a direct result of global warming and the effects it has on our planet. Obviously, the world as a whole is astir about the way things seems to be moving.

But I guess my point of view comes from a different side than what is probably the opinion of the general populace....

It's become evident that the climate science study that was presented to and sponsored by the UN had some fallacies in it. Turns out that some of the studies done used random numbers so that the scientists could claim we were destined for doom.

Now, I personally can believe that there has been a climate change in the last several years, something that I can experience from walking outside. The temperatures have definitely been bizarre in the winter and baking in the summer. No doubt about it. However, history shows that there were periods of time in the past that were hotter and colder than we are now. How can we definitively claim that driving a gas-guzzling oil-burning clunker is the reason? I just don't think we can....

My belief falls much more in line with this:

"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains."

In case you aren't familiar with this passage, it's directly from the mouth of
Jesus, spoken close to two thousand years ago. It's also mentioned in the book of
Revelations that we will see the sun and moon both do some things we've never
seen before. These things are not something that I believe we as the human
race can stop. In my eyes, to say that if we all stop using electricity, gasoline,
tobacco, and whatever else supposedly damages our world, it's not going to
stop.  I believe this is just a part of how things are going to happen.

Does that mean we should throw our garbage in the yard, pour oil down the
drain, cut down all the trees, and leave all of our appliances on 24/7? Absolutely
not. As a Christian, I believe we are to be good stewards of the place we live.
We have been given dominion over the land, and whether or not we're causing
these things to happen, I can't say. All I know is that, the way I see it, we
are heading towards the end of life as we know it. Maybe it's all happening this
way, and possibly at the hands of mankind, because of our mismanagement of
what God has given us. Regardless, famines and earthquakes were prophesied
as the beginning of the end. I don't believe we're going to make it stop.

And simply put, I would much rather place my faith in a God who came to redeem
me from myself and my own misgivings, than a team of scientists who clearly
were more concerned with power and dollar signs....

What about you? Where do you weigh in?

  1. Great post! I agree with everything you said! God is in charge and nothing (even global warming) is going to happen that he doesn't allow or know about! Thanks for sharing! :)

  2. That was a great post. I myself put my faith in God.

Have you seen that movie 2012?? It was awesome.

I could talk about the Biblical views of the end of the world for days. We're given signs, reminding us to stay right with God. I think rapture will take place before we have to endure anything too horrid, here on earth.

    Good read. Good read. :)
