There's a heartbeat!!

** If you are new here, go read this to understand what I'm talking about!! or just skip to the questions**

That's right!! I went to the doctor this morning, and after shaking like a leaf all morning, I not only got to see the flicker of the heart beating at 121 beats per minute, but the ultrasound tech let me hear it too!! SO sweet to hear!! The not so good news was that originally there was a twin, but it didn't make it very far at all into development. Not really sure where that will lead, but I'm just praising GOD that I have one healthy baby! Thanks for the prayer and please keep them coming... I'm not out of the woods yet!

Here's a pic, you can see the 2 separate sacs, it looks like the top one is empty, but it actually still has something in it for now...

So now, onto that thing we look forward to on Fridays, Five Question Friday!!! YEE-HAW!

Questions for 1/15/10: (Special thanks to LolidotsCasia, theUnkept CookKeely, and Megan for their question suggestions! Want to be linked in a future 5QF? Offer up your best question suggestions here...and stay tuned!)

1.
Worst trouble you ever got into as a teenager?

Hmmm... let's see. Well, I wasn't really a bad kid until I was out of high school, and in high school, I only got in trouble twice, but the first time was a huge misunderstanding. See, I was in the drama class, and we'd just had a big production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (I think anyway, it was something Tennessee Williams). We'd rented this huge spiral staircase from a props place in Greensboro. The thing was so big it took at least 8 of us girls to pick it up. We were supposed to take the staircase back to the prop rental shop, and return to school. Well, since it took 8 girls to move it, and we didn't have a vehicle to carry the staircase and all 8 girls, we took a truck (which I was in), and another girl drove her sedan. We, in the truck, got lost in Greensboro trying to find the prop shop. The other carload decided that the mall sounded like a better idea, so instead of following us into the neverland we ended up in, they went shopping. And got busted by a security guard. Since the mall was always the cool place to skip school, security guards always had to question kids that looked under 18 in the mall unattended. Of course, the girls were reported to our high school. Which meant all 8 of us got in trouble. We had the choice of 4 after school detentions or one Saturday school. I can't remember what I chose.

The second time, I was learning to drive my stick shift 1982 and a half Toyota Supra with the digital dashboard and flip up headlights ( I loved that car). Anyway, I hated to drive. I was so scared I'd wreck. In fact, my 14 year old brother would actually drive me to and from school, but we had to have me in the driver's seat at home and on school grounds. Well, we had this gravel drive we had to go down to get out of one of the parking lots, which went uphill before you could pull out onto the road. Of course, stop and go traffic, gravel drive, and being on an uphill incline meant that I spun gravels all over the SRO (student resource officer)'s  cop car. He pulled me over. My punishment then was 2 weeks of after school trash duty, but I got out of it since I was a good kid and it was the last week of school before graduation.

2. Are you a morning person or a night person?

NIGHT PERSON!!!  I am usually in a sleepy, cloudy headed daze until about 1 pm, then things start to clear up a bit. At night though, it's as if I catch a second wind, my attitude gets better and I am chock full of unnecessary energy. Maybe I'm supposed to live in another part of the world :)

3.
Are you a one-handed or a two-handed Texter?

Two handed. I finally gave in and got a full QWERTY keyboard phone last year in the summer.  I tried to text with my little 123456789 keyboard for so long, but after I'd read what I'd typed, it was always spelled a little crazy where I didn't push the button quite as many times as I should, or I'd pushed it too much. QWERTY with 2 hands is very much the way to text!!

4.
Democrat, Republican, or Independent..or maybe even Green Party (whatever that is).
I think I'm registered as Republican, but I'm really not sure. Right now, I'm none to happy with either party. I vote according to my values and morals (definitely CONSERVATIVE), which usually is more in alignment with the Republican party, but I think it's such a money thing now, I'd like to just call myself a Constitutionalist. Why can't we just go by what it actually says, instead of trying to "interpret" ourselves into a big pit of sin!?

I could get very political here, but I'll stop before I make myself look bad.

5. Are you a pet person?

Uhhh.... welll.... we've had pets before.  We've had 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 3 goats since we've lived in this house, almost 5 years. I like them sometimes, but I DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, like animals in the house. Of any kind. Not fish, not gerbils, not hamsters, not birds, not dogs, not cats, not mice, not ANYTHING. I understand that sometimes animals are bred specifically to be indoor animals, but I don't think that's how God made them. They came equipped with the ability to survive in the outdoors. NOW, don't report me to PETA or the ASPCA, because I do think that man is to take care of the animals, I just think we've sort of gone down the wrong path and tend to worship our sweet little furry buddies.

Please don't hate me.... I really do love animals, just not when they're in my house or in my face. Or humping my leg. Or spraying my front door. Or pooping on my walkway. You get the point.

Now it's your turn!! Go link up with all the rest of the ladies (and gents) and tell the world what you think!!

  1. Congrats on the healthy baby in there! Have you ever heard of predicting gender based on heartbeat in utero? I think it's low heartrate (under 135 bpm) for a boy, and higher for a girl. Based on that, you're going to have a son!

  3. First, I want to say how happy i am that you saw a heartbeat!! I have had one miscarriage, and I can only imagine the fear you have every time you go in to hear the heartbeat. I still have that fear, and I am 18 weeks along! Second, I am so sorry about the twin. I hope that somehow it all works out, and I am sorry for the disappointment, and sadness that I am sure you are feeling. I had a really rough beginning to my pregnancy and this is my first, so I totally understand, and I will be praying for you. Just trust in God that is all we can do! :)

You made me laugh about your night person comment, because that is just so me!!

I totally agree with you about the political views, its very hard right now.

The pets thing oh my yes. We did have two cats, and we just had to find homes for them. It was getting to be too much, with fleas and the hair and I couldn't keep up!

    Have a wonderful, blessed day!

  9. Congratulations!! I am keeping you in my prayers for a wonderful pregnancy and healthy baby(ies). I, too, know the sorrow and pain of losing a precious one (at 10 weeks). It's a life-changing event. It is understandable that you would be nervous right now but just trust in God and turn all of your fears over to Him! Sending you hugs! :)
