Five Question Friday!!

 
So despite my response last Friday, I DID venture out this morning. Left my house at 4:30 to arrive at Walmart at 4:35, and get in line for what I went for at 4:45, then miraculously (and I don't mean that lightly), bought the LAST of what I was waiting for. I can't tell you what it is, since it was for my daughter and she may be peeking over my shoulder any minute now. ANYWAY, I had me some church up in Walmart, able to witness to a lot of people about God's goodness while I'm standing in line. It was just a GREAT morning!! Maybe I'll tell you about it after Christmas :)

Now, onto the topic at hand: Five Question (BLACK) FRIDAY!!!

1. Do you do a real or fake Christmas tree?


Fake. I grew up with a fake one, and I'll probably always have a fake one. I think it'd be cool to have a real one, but we have such atrocious allergies in my house, I wouldn't want to risk it. Plus one of my LEAST favorite things to do is vacuum, and from what I understand, they lose a lot of little needles everywhere.


2. What is your favorite Christmas tradition with your family?

Hmm... I love everything about Christmas (except for the commercialism). It's really tough to say. But I think my favorite Christmas tradition is that we all draw names and buy gifts to exchange Christmas Eve. Usually we draw names on Thanksgiving so that we can have a month to shop for something $20 and under. We all get together at my brother's house with the best junk food ever (think white chocolate covered pretzels, white chocolate covered peanut butter crackers, bird's nests, sausage balls... my hips are swelling at the thought). All of the little ones open their gifts from aunts and uncles and then, while they are off playing with their toys, we exchange our gifts. With my husband, my four siblings and my two sisters in law, it's crazy. If I draw my oldest brother's name, I always get him a gag gift. One year it was Depends undergarments, one year it was Just for Men facial hair dye (he's got multicolor facial hair, black, brown, red, gray and white). My little sister drew his name a year or 2 ago and she filled his yard with twinkling pink flamingos and put a little gas card around the neck of one of them. TOO FUN!! Last year I drew my younger brother's name, and he was days away from becoming a first time daddy, so I bought him his favorite childhood book (Where the Wild Things Are) to read to his not yet born little man. This year, I've got my little sis's name, and I bought her gift the day after I drew her name :)

3. Do you celebrate Thanksgiving in your neck of the woods? And, if so...how many calories do you think you consumed yesterday?

Yes we celebrate Thanksgiving!! LOVE IT!! As for calories....don't wanna talk about it.... but I will say that I did not take Metformin on Wednesday night or Thursday morning because of how sick it made me, and I ate all I wanted to. So good!!

4. Have you started decorating for Christmas, yet?

I made myself wait until today... I started a little earlier and will finish when my husband gets the tree in for me :)

5. What is your favorite Christmas cookie?

Not sure it's a cookie, but my favorite Christmas "sweet" is the butterscotch and chow mein noodle bird's nests (or haystacks). I eat them unti I'm sick every year.
